Baby bump at 6 months, 24 weeks

ok today marks the official day of sticky bean being 24 weeks, aka 6 months...

didn't really take a lot of bump shots as i started only in the 5th month, before that can't really tell that it's a preggie bump so didn't take any pic.

a huge difference between 5th and 6th month hor? the bump seemed to balloon after we came back from our mini babymoon early July.

Baby Baby Expo 2013 Loots & Reviews

Before I start off with Baby Baby expo, just to share some additional stuffs for our girl.
My mum just came back from Bangkok and our sticky bean being her first granddaughter (she has a 3 yr old grandson and another grandson on the way already so she was hoping that sticky bean will be a girl so she can dress her up), she can’t resist buying all the girly stuffs for sticky bean.

Sticky bean’s so blessed. All of the above items belonged to her.
Maybe it doesn’t look a lot from the photo as I’ve to stack items on top of each other to take a group pic but it sure is a lot man..plus some of the other things we’ve bought for sticky bean, her clothes, hankies, booties, mittins, caps etc already occupied 2 drawers..

Another buy I would like to share.

look at how small and cute it is!!

Can’t resist buying this pair of socks for sticky bean! Thought it would be perfect for her to wear during her 1st month baby shower.
Robinsons having 20% off, plus being a card member you get additional 20% off!
I paid only $3 for it, such a good buy right!!???
Wanted to get more but the rational side of me told me that she’s probably gona outgrow it very very soon, so one for her baby shower will be enough.

Remember a steal wouldn’t be a steal if you do not need the item at all.

Baby Baby Expo Fair 2013
ok this is a relatively small scale event, the good thing is some of the offers are really good and you get sure win lucky dip for every $30 spent in a single receipt, also cos it’s small scale, it’s not as crowded as the motherhood babyfair we went earlier in May.

One of the star buy we saw from their facebook was Shears baby cot up $458 with Free foam mattress at $199 only but limited to the first 30 sets.
We wanted to check out the dimensions if it’s the smaller sized 120 cm by 60 cm cot that can fit into our room . we will be getting a bigger cot for the nursery from Mr. keir’s sister you see so we won’t need another expensive cot for our room plus due to space constrain we can only fit in the smaller cot.

Initially we couldn’t find the item or the booth as there’s no obvious signage shouting out this is the $199 hot buy, so after a few rounds and just when we wanted to leave disappointedly, I didn’t wana give up!
Must show sticky bean a good example, be persistent with what you want soooo..i started to ask the “suspected” booth about the deal..and we FOUND IT!!

Wooohoo..
So here’s the special buy we’ve bought! Paid a deposit of $50 and arranging delivery in early October. Didn’t want it to arrive too early as there’s 6 months warranty so better to have it delivered nearer to our EDD.
The beddings were excluded though..

But no worries, we bought this sweet cot bumper for sticky bean, with mesh design to promote air flow, also from shears at $30.

And there there’s this natural bamboo nappy liner at $6 each, so Mr. Keir says buy 2 packet.

Rompers at just $3 each! And the material was pretty good, nice and soft. Bought 6-9mths size for these cos we did a stock count before we left home and realized she had too many 0-3mths clothes.

We had 2 chances at lucky dip from our 2 purchases, won this avent nipple shield the first round, not too bad..
Not so lucky for the 2nd round, got a piece of goon diapers sample which was already in our goodie bag. =(

Oh we also received a goodie bag containing some goon diapers, wet wipes, small bottle of kodomo powder, a tube of hand sanitizer.

Verdict: yes i do think the baby baby expo fair is worth going!!

Mini Babymoon to Pulai Spring Resort Desaru

We just went for our mini babymoon to desaru with another couple friend and their 2.5 yrs son.
Didn’t want to risk taking plane and afraid I may not be able to take too long a journey and then, our friend chanced upon this deal in deal.com.sg
2 day 1 night Desaru Pulai Spring Resort at just $69 ++ per pax.
Heard that it’s a nice relaxation place and kids friendly too so we extended 1 night there.

Though the deal is really good an inclusive of breakfast, the place is really kind of boring, to an extent that I didn’t even take much photos.
It’s best to drive there yourself which a lot of Singaporean did so they can drive out to city to have the famous seafood at sungei renggit area but cos we took the coach up and hiring a taxi to and fro to pick us from the resort costs as 120rm, we decided to give it a miss.

the beach is really quite pretty too, quiet and sand is soooooo soft...

The place is pretty inaccessible actually..
But they have got a pretty and nice swimming pool

We spent most of our time dipping in the pool. The food there is expensive and not nice.
The breakfast is pretty ok though.

Mr. Keir enjoyed the eggs so much he tried to make an "ultraman" out of them..=____=

So for dinner on the first night we walked over to the resort next door – Lotus Resort – much more crowded and very popular among the locals as compared to Pulai spring which is pretty quiet and seems a little more “atas”
pretty pool with waterslide which is quite fun actually..haha..didn't dare to take it too many times though, Mr. Keir's afraid it might be too "exciting" for the baby.

You can just walk along the beach for about 5-10minutes to reach the outdoor restaurant there by the beach, we ordered some zi-char dishes and it costs about $60-70 SGD for 4 adults. Compared to Pulai desaru it’s considered cheap. A simple lunch at Pulai Spring Resort costs us $120SGD if I didn’t recall wrongly.

We decided to skip the fireflies tour after hearing stories of how dark and scary it can be and how smelly the life jackets were, so we only went to Desaru Fruit Farm the next morning.
Other than it being overly charged at 25RM per adult, the fruit farm tour seems quite ok, not like we have a lot of other recreational choices there too.
Was looking forward to having a durian feast there but no, we didn’t get to eat any durians there at all, perhaps the season was just over and they just had their harvest.

They also has a mini zoo in the fruit farm with quite a lot of animals surprisingly. And a resident severely-undergroomed ostrich.
the under groomed ostrich

On the second night we decided to take the risk and went for a Korean restaurant  not of accessible distance from the resort, however they provide transport and we heard from another couple whom we’ve met at the resort mention that the price is reasonable and it’s a home-style restaurant.

Indeed it was a restaurant within the Korean owner’s house!

feels so homely right?

check out the owner's ginseng collection

the side dishes

oh the kimchi soup is really yummy though..super thick!

some chicken thingy which i didn't enjoy very much

Tadah! Felt so homely hor… the food is pretty ok, personally I didn’t really enjoy the chicken though, the sauce is too sweet for my liking.

Time always passes super fast while you’re on vacation, overall it was a real relaxing trip for us though it can get boring at times, we spent a great deal of time in our room enjoying the aircon and thank god we went with friends and the cute little 2.5 year old, hence it kinda eased the boredom a little.

Will we go there again? Hmm highly unlikely I would think so.

Upcoming Baby Fairs 2013

Upcoming Baby Fair 2013

Here’s the upcoming Baby Fair 2013 in July!

Baby Baby Exhibition
Date: 12th – 14th July 2013
Venue: Expo Hall 4
There’s also FREE Talk conducted by panel of experts from Thomson Medical Centre.

Not sure how “big” will this baby baby exhibition be as it’s not really widely advertised, but reckon since they have their support from Thomson Medical as tie up it should be worth going?

SG Asian Parents even did an article on why you should attend above fair.

ok the next upcoming one which we’ve initially waited to stock up on most big ticket items is here!
But we're receiving a hand-me-down baby cot from one of Mr. Keir's sister so currently we'll be looking at probably a smaller sized cot of rocker or moses basket to be placed in our room for baby to sleep with us for the first couple of months when i'm breastfeeding.

Takashimaya Baby Fair
24th July 2013 – early August 2013

Oops can’t remember the exact date the fair will end. But it seemed difficult to find online information about this fair.
It’s not even updated in Takashimaya’s events calendar.
I recall seeing this fair in an advertisement in either Mother & Baby or  Young Parents magazine though by one of the brands participating in the fair

Actually after attending Motherhood Expo late May, looking at the offers and shopping at some departmental stores, OG, Baby Kingdom, Kiddy Palace around GSS period, i find most of the deals pretty similar.
Maybe there's more freebies thrown in during expo fairs.
But still if you have time, i'm sure it's still worth the trip for first time mummies like myself, as you tend to gain more knowledge on the different products, the offerings, better idea of the prices too!
